Treat curb access as its own task

Reserve moving logistics early and confirm current city fees and temporary no-parking sign deadlines directly with the City of Hoboken.

A temporary curb reservation is different from a resident parking permit. It is meant to address access during the move, while the resident permit concerns ongoing eligibility. Keep the confirmations, dates, and posted-sign responsibilities with the person coordinating the truck.

A permit is not a promised space

The city parking FAQ states that a parking permit does not guarantee a space. Before choosing a unit, walk the exact blocks on an ordinary weekday and weekend, note posted restrictions, and ask the building whether parking is included, leased, waitlisted, or unavailable.

Plan for the truck dimensions, safe access, and the distance from curb to lobby. Confirm whether street work, events, or building projects may affect the chosen date.

Book the building separately

The building's elevator and loading process is separate from city curb permission. Ask management about reservations, move hours, insurance certificates, deposits, loading doors, protective materials, and key or access procedures.

Create one timeline with three owners: city curb arrangements, resident parking eligibility, and building coordination. Reconfirm each shortly before the move rather than assuming one approval covers the others.

Practical checklist

  • Confirm current city lead times
  • Separate curb reservation from resident permit
  • Ask whether the building has an elevator reservation
  • Confirm mover insurance and deposits
  • Recheck signs and access before arrival

Build one moving-day timeline

Create one timeline that names who arranges curb access, who books the elevator, and who checks the mover's insurance. Confirm current city fees and deadlines directly with Hoboken. Ask whether the building has a required truck or loading route, then arrange key pickup and a reachable contact in case the truck arrives late.
